- As the costume designer or the original production of Cenci along with Artaud decided that costume should be symbolic I decided that I would do the same thing for our show.
- They stated that colour especially in the costume should be symbolic and I thought this would work well.
- I decided that Beatrice should wear white as a symbol for innocence and Cenci should wear red as a symbol of the devil, hell and sexual aggression. Camillo will wear grey as he is constantly changing sides and has no conscience. The other characters would all wear black as a neutral colour which still contrasts with Beatrice and Cenci however Lucretia and Bernado will both have a white accessory to show that they are still ‘good’ characters.
